Where to Go from Belgium? — Vignette Guide
Autovig BE guide: which motorway vignettes you need depending on your destination from Belgium. Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia and more.
From Belgium, the most popular destinations requiring a motorway vignette are Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia and Hungary. Depending on your route, you may need several vignettes for a single trip.
Popular destinations
Austria is the most common destination for Belgian drivers heading to the Alps or transiting towards Eastern Europe. Switzerland is essential if you cross the Alps towards northern Italy. Slovenia is often a transit country for those heading to Croatia or Italy via the Adriatic coast.

What changes from one country to the next
The point that catches Belgian drivers out most often: Switzerland sells no short-term vignette. There is only an annual one. A single transit towards Italy therefore costs exactly the same as a full year — there is no weekend option to look for.
The other countries do work in short durations, but not the same ones. Austria sells 1-day, 10-day, 2-month and annual. Slovenia sells 1-week, 1-month and annual. Hungary sells 1-day, 10-day, 1-month and annual. In other words: there is no 10-day vignette in Slovenia, and no one-week vignette in Austria. That is the classic mistake when planning a trip that chains the two together.
